Ask Troll R. R. Martin

OOC: You are WELCOME, and THANK YOU ALL SO SO MUCH for reading this dinky little blog!

OOC: “@bingingsnark - my new twitter page”!/bingingsnark

I finally conceded and made a twitter page - for me, the “real” me, not the Wise Troll-y One for whom I manage this blog. You can still expect a lot of snarkiness there, however, as the name implies. This twitter account is mostly for me to bitch & whine and rant & rave and gush & squee like a regular old FanBoi. It will not be limited to Game of Thrones / ASoIaF, though of course they will be prominently featured. Here are some other shows I’m into right now: Archer, Awake, Boardwalk Empire, Castle, Community, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Downtown Abbey, Dr. Who, Fringe, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Justified, The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, Luther, Misfits, Modern Family, Person of Interest, Sons of Anarchy, Sherlock, Supernatural, The Venture Brothers, The Walking Dead, Wilfred, 30 Rock. (Keep in mind I’m still catching up on several of these.)

Anyway, I’d really appreciate it if y’all would follow me there if you have a twitter account. This is also kind of a test run to see if there would be any interest for me to write a TV / Pop Culture blog. I’ve done that in the past and put a lot of time and effort into it, and am considering doing so again, but this time around I’d like to reach a much wider audience.

Thanks for reading this far!

PS. Would y’all like a twitter page for the actual GRRM Troll?

OOC: Finally finished with A Dance With Dragons…

…so I’ll be addressing a few questions I wasn’t sure how to answer before.

Also, I’ll probably post a (properly forewarned) spoiler-filled rant with all my various thoughts on the book in a little while.

Oh, and the codeword is “GROLEO”.

I’ll just come right out and say it for the record:

I like Ros.

I don’t like every scene with her in it, but I do like the new character. In fact, I happen to like Ros a LOT more than Show!Shae. I can’t stand what little we’ve seen of Show!Shae. I actually was kind of hoping Ros would follow Tyrion and take on the role of Shae, becoming the new Hand of the King’s lover/whore/what-have-you. It would certainly have legitimized the attention given to her character in the early half of the season, and well, frankly, I just like her personality a lot more Show!Shae’s or even Book!Shae’s (not even taking into consideration all the junk that happens in A Storm of Swords, of course).

So, again, I like Ros. I thought the show’s use of her and other women for sexposition (or exboobsition, if you prefer) was clunky and tiresome at times. Still, I hope this isn’t the last we’ve seen of her. I hope the showrunners find new and more interesting ways to use Ros to advance the plot and further develop the main characters.

But haters gonna hate.

Done for the night / Spoilers?

Just to let y’all know, I save up some questions for later. Some are about a week old that I still haven’t answered. It’s not because I don’t like you, it’s because I haven’t thought of anything remotely witty/cruel to post as a reply. So please keep asking away; the more the merrier. I promise I won’t neglect them. I will answer them…eventually.

Also, I’m curious to know my readers’ spoiler preferences. Are there too many spoilers on this site? Or should I post spoilerish questions/answers after the jump with a warning beforehand, or what?

Sorry for the lack of posts

At first I was just being lazy. Then I went out of town.

Your regularly scheduled snarkiness will now resume.

OOC: Am I just a dick on this blog?

'Cause it's starting to feel that way…

A little finger helped to nudge my follower count over 150.

It’s hard to believe so many people could worship so cruel a god as me. But do not think for a second that such acts of veneration could sate my lust for blood. Remember: winter is coming, not mercy.

OOC Confession

I haven’t even finished the prologue to A Dance With Dragons! I was completely broke when the book came out, and I was told I could borrow my friend’s copy when she was done with it. But first she loaned it out to my sister and brother-in-law. Which is stupid because my sister only started reading ASOIAF just a year or so before Game of Thrones came out, and I’ve been waiting for over FIVE years to get the next book.

Anyway, I’m also right in the middle of The Dresden Files, which, if you haven’t read, you HAVE TO. They’re amazing. Also, they’re not doorstoppers. So they happen to look a lot more appealing than the big gray tome in front of me right now. So, yes, I finally have a copy of ADWD, but it’s gonna be a long, slow read for me.

(I’m looking at you, people who keep on bringing up Ramsay Bolton.)

p.s. I’ll try and read quickly, and I’ll announce on here when I’m finished with the book.

I think I am now officially one of the only Ask Game of Thrones related blogs that makes anything close to sense.

Other Ask GOT blogs: Carry on with your crazy antics. They may be confusing and reality-distorting, but they sure are funny as hell.
